Fireman’s Fund Prepares for Wilma

October 21, 2005

Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company is preparing for a major storm event from Hurricane Wilma and has reached out to its Florida policyholders threatened by the storm with on-line access to loss control advice on what to do before and after the storm as well as early notification of the company’s toll-free telephone number for filing claims.

The Fireman’s Fund Tampa office has verified all cell-phone and home-phone numbers of its independent agents, so that emergency lines of communication are available if needed. Fireman’s Fund has also begun emailing storm tracking updates as well as pre- and post-event advice to the agents, informing them of Fireman’s Fund procedures so that claims action can be expedited for customers whose properties are damaged by the storm. Such updates and advice will also be available on the Fireman’s Fund proprietary Web site for appointed agents.

“We have begun staging an initial deployment of claim professionals near Wilma’s expected path,” said Bill Dalton, head of the Fireman’s Fund National Catastrophe Center in Missouri.

Dalton added, “Our concern is for the safety and well being of all Floridians. In the event a Fireman’s Fund policyholder should suffer damage as a result of Wilma, we urge them to call 1-888-FIREHAT (or 1-888-347-3428) so that we may assist them as promptly as possible.”
