Crawford & Co. Adjusters Respond to Hurricane Rita’s Damage Claims

September 26, 2005

Crawford & Company Catastrophe Services has kept a watchful eye on Hurricane Rita, the year’s 17th named storm, as it churned through the Gulf of Mexico to Texas and Louisiana. Crawford, which already had hundreds of adjusters in the Gulf Coast area handling claims from Hurricane Katrina, is now responding to Hurricane Rita.

To meet the needs from Rita, Crawford Catastrophe Services, through Crawford & Company’s continuing education facility, Crawford University, has escalated adjuster recruiting and added training classes. More than 100 individuals will receive basic adjuster training over the next several weeks. Upon completion of training, these adjusters will be immediately deployed to assist the industry in addressing client requirements associated specifically with Hurricanes Katrina and Rita as well as other catastrophic events.

“We are making insurance carriers aware of our increased number of adjuster training classes,” Tom Crawford, Crawford & Company president and CEO said. “These are challenging times for our industry and in response to the needs of our clients and the industry, we are aggressively recruiting and training adjusters. With storms as large as Katrina and Rita, it’s a fact that there is a need for additional insurance adjusters right now.”

The company’s satellite trucks will facilitate voice/data transfer if infrastructure is compromised, allowing Crawford CAT adjusters to begin processing claims immediately.
