The state is not bankrupt. If Citizens is bankrupt we will keept bailing it out.
If you are a resident of Broward, then I feel your pain. As an agent (I don’t represent State Farm), all of the companies that I write for either won’t touch Broward/Dade for wind coverage or can only do it at 10% deductible. My advice: Accept the increase. Or move far away.
I guess none of you looked at what State Farm made in profits, If you did, you would be pissed off. This rate increase, plus the States 6.8%. I think if Mr. Gallager would get his hand out of their pocket we all would be better off. As far a Citezens goes, it is a pice of **** to.
Bob, in case you are not aware and based on your statement you not aware that State Farm Florida Insurance Co. is not State Farm Insurance Co. It is a stand alone Florida domiciled and run company that does not write business outside of Florida and does not obtain funding from the parent company. They also posted a $59 million dollar loss for the year end 2004. There is NO profit there, and I am not pissed. State Farm Florida is as large as it is because it was the cheapest, it was not because the were your neighbor or better than anybody else. They were cheaper. Other than select areas of the state it has been dificult to beat a State Farm homeowners policy up until last year. It is time they charge higher rates. They did get downgraded by AM Best also, which clearly reflect financial stability was affected greatly. I whole hearted agree with the rest of your statements, we would be MUCH better off if Gallagher would go away, and Citizens is **** Crap
Me and LL are glad to see their rates go up. Pretty soon they won’t be the cheapest game in town and us independent agencies will start taking their business.
I also heard that, in light of today’s court decision, State Farm was going to start using after market bricks and blocks to repair homes damaged by future windstorms.

The rate increases in Broward exceed 30% lets hold a public useless forum and make the state bankrupt.
Now we can hold the OIR responsible for this mess.

I forgot. Insurance companies are not allowed to make money. I also forgot the rest of the country has to subsidize Florida.
Thanks for clearing that up, Bob.
