Elections just don’t work well unless the candidate can claim settling a crisis. A crisis can be created by requiring a needed industry to perform a task of insolvency. Renewing properties in a damaged state without premiums corresponding to the risk is an insolvent act.
When the companies start closing their Florida operations the politicians (both parties) will show up like bottled water sellers at a carnival. “Vote for me and I’ll protect you from the nasty insurance companies.” Who will protect the people from the nasty politicians?
