I’m appalled by the gall of the PIA of Florida. They talk big NOW about the disasters from last year but where were they THEN? I’m a member of both PIA and the Florida Association of Insurance Agents (FAIA). FAIA had personnel calling, visiting and helping agents after the disasters. I never saw or even heard from a single person at PIA. I’m dumping my PIA membership for an organization that KNOWS how to take care of its members.
Totally agree! PIA has been NOWHERE and they continually take credit for efforts of FAIA. FLorida agents must rid temselves of 2 associations at odds with each other. Let’s merge and speak with ONE UNITED VOICE. We have enough to worry about in this State!
It doesn’t look like the PIA suggested agencies look into business continuity tools such as those offered by companies like Afni Insurance Services. Obviously, the storms aren’t going away which makes disaster planning huge for many at-risk states, not just FL. And, these tools are vital to both the insured AND the agency.
I luckily didn’t get hit by the storms last year and hope I don’t this year either. PIA called me before the storms and asked what help I might need if it hits in my area. I also got an e-mail from PIA after the storms and asked if I could go out and help agents that were hit if I was close enough so that I didn’t have to stay overnight since accommodations were scarce.
