the cat fund sounds like a great idea. but as in ins.the consumers pay and pay
premiums. and if you make a claim some of the times you are drop. and if we have storms or damge to are homes the consumers pay the bill not the ins. companys. i think the law makers need legislate law controling the ins, companies. i have paid in hundreds of dollars in to ins companies. and i end up pay the bill for ins, companies if we have a storm. even if the storm didn’t no damge to my home. or the county i live as in south fla. in 92 my ins, went from 375.00 to over 500.00 a year and if my ins, company manged there money right we would not have to have the stae gov. having to have a fund like this.
I agree with Allstate concerning the Cat Fund. The fund needs to be updated to reflect what happened in 2004. The whole idea of the Cat Fund was to help keep insurrers writing homeowners policies in Florida and encourage lower premiums. I am not so sure, in it’s present form, this is working as it was suppose to.

Although we did not have any damage to our property, I still feel for those who did and are not able to get help the way the Cat fund is presently executed. I do not think it is right to charge a deductible for each storm. It should be for the season. Please help us try to keep our premiums down as low as is humanly possible. Thank you!
MY HUSBAND AND I BOTH BELIEVE THAT THE “CAT FUND” SHOULD BE CHANGED TO FIRST, TO ALLOW BENEFITS TO FLOW FROM THE CAT FUND BASED UPON A SINGLE SEASONAL DEDUCTIBLE, AND SECOND, TO LOWER THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF LOSSES THAT INSURERS MUST BEAR BEFORE DRAWING THE MONEY PAID INTO THE CAT FUND.
To change the Cat Fund Law to benefit the homeowners insurance market in two important ways-first to allow benefits to flow from the Cat Fund based upon a single seasonal deductible and second, to lower the total amount of losses that insurers must bear before drawing the money paid into the Cat Fund.Changing the caatastrope fund will help hold down future premium increases. The larger the role of the Cat Fund, the larger the savings for consumers.

WE NEED MORE FUNDS IN THIS FUND FOR ADDITIONAL HURRICANES. THIS YEAR WE HAVE HAD FOUR STORMS WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO MANY HOMEOWNERS.
