Ga. Tow Company Gets Extra Lift from Investigators Looking into Possible Fraud

Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine said investigators from his office and the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department recently searched the offices of a Savannah towing company believed to have obtained its city permit through insurance
fraud.

Oxendine said a warrant was obtained to search the offices of Scruggs Towing and Recovery, at two addresses: 116 Randolph Street, and 4205 Montgomery Street, both in Savannah.

Proof of insurance is required for tow operators to receive a city permit. According to Oxendine, Scruggs insurance documents may be forgeries.

Some items were removed from the Scruggs premises during the search, and the investigation is continuing.
