    They just raised rates and lowered commissions to offset their losses. State Farm still continues to grow 900,000+ policies. Let them foot the bill of the assessments.

    Citizens is too large to now try and handle the operations without outsourcing some of the workload. The problem here was poor planning and being forced to use non-qualified people to handle this type of catastrophe. If companies Like State Farm can handle 70,000 more claims, and outsourcing much of that work, why can’t Citizens? Building a large infrastructure is not the answer. Hiring the right people to do the job is!

    Agree. This is a big joke. It is a disgrace the way this is handled. Any CEO of a private company that handled this like Citizens CEO has would of had their walking papers without the golden parachute. Did they ever put out a notice that due to the number of claims that they would handle the ones where people had substantial damage to their homes? Of course not. Well now the hamburger flipper at your local fast food joint will by moving on to Citizens to be underwriters (paper handlers) adjusters etc.. I guess they will all be 100% votes for our CFO. By the way who is the CEO of Citizens?

    Today the CEO of Citizens is Bob Ricker, who knows about tomorrow. Although I bet he takes it on the chin, because he know Gallagher is spouting off to look good to consumers because he wants their vote for Governor, and I can’t imagine any fool that would want to take over such a diseased organization. State farm may have fewer complaints but they are still way behind in closing claims, They still have 60 adjustors in a temporary unit in Fort Myers and anticipate being there for another year.(whats up with that, a year and a half to finalize hurricane claims)
    Citizens responded amazingly well during the first storm but it went to hell the day the second storm hit. No company was ready for what happened, but the bigger companies had better be ready to get beat up because the more customers you have the more complaints you will get. As much as we have learned in the last 5 months, I don’t think much will change because no one thinks it will happen again anytime soon.

    Citizens needs to be run by the insurance companies, not political hacks. Most claims that are substantial do not get “completed” until 6-8 months later. The problem with Citizens is the personnel who are employees of Citizens not the independent adjusters.

    Since I reported my claim in September 2004 I have been dealing with Citizens almost on a daily basis. The phone numbers Citizens set up for “storm Information” were useless call centers, the only information they would give out was whether or not a claim was open or closed, and they were incredibly rude. Fortunately with some good investigative skills and persistence I have direct phone numbers to people who “matter” (e-mail me for numbers, I’ll be happy to give them out) at Citizens and Allied American Adjusting. But still I received conflicting information every time I called, even those in charge could not accurately answer any of my questions. For instance, when I asked where some of the personal property I had on my list went and why it was not covered the answer was a long pause, a muttered “well how should I know,” and then I was mysteriously disconnected. The claim I received was woefully inadequate, the breakdown analysis had crossed out numbers and handwritten numbers in the margins and the MATH did not work out! The excuse for that was that there were memorandum and paperwork I was not allowed to see that would explain the amount difference… The entire experience has been handled so poorly and anyone associated with the company should be embarrassed. My fight with Citizens is not over, my notes compose a six inch binder and I’m beginning to look forward to my day at mediation, if Citizens even shows up.

    Citizens infrastructure needs to hire employees and not independents. I want a person to handle my claim from start to finish. There are thousands of people willing to work for Citizens as an employee. The infrastructure is full of contractors and independents which blindly hires bodies, nepitism and a \”friend of a friend network\” totaly unqualified and uncertified for the jobs. I mean the mon, dad, brother, sister, uncle , aunt and cousins working there is getting ridiculous. Is this a goverment agency of professionals? or a group of family/friends reunions paid for by the tax payers?
