Fireman’s Fund has once again demonstrated that they are the # 1 Property and Casualty group in the United States today.

It’s a stark contrast to the lawsuits filed by Allstate seeking to recover some of the losses they paid in the Southern California wildfires last year. It’s interesting to note that Allstate had a number of complaints registered with the California DOI concerning their claims handling and Fireman’s Fund had none.

Fireman’s Fund I salute you for your corporate goodwill and generosity. You put your money where your mouth is when it comes to value added services and giving back to the communities you serve.

    Sincerely,

    Skip Rawstron

The donations are for very good causes but Fireman’s Fund’s main intent is to generate business!

    DMS:

Even if their donations are mainly to generate new business, which I happen to know is not the case, what would be wrong with that. Please enlighten me as to carriers that are doing more or even something comparable that BENEFITS POLICYHOLDERS. The policyholders are really the people who sign all of our paychecks.

For your edification, the infancy or embryonic of Project Heritage, came after the City of Novato, lost 2 of their firefighters in the Southern California wildfires last year, trying to save houses of some of my neighbors. The people of Novato, which includes many Fireman’s Fund employees, stepped out and there was a tremendous outpouring of support for the families of these local firefighters, including over 100 personal contributions from Fireman’s Fund’s home office employees. Later, the brain trust at Fireman’s Fund asked themselves “What more can we do” ? Project Heritage is a brilliant, generous, and philanthropic endeavor unprecedented in the insurance industry. If it generates new business to them, they have earned it.

This is a publicity stunt. Instead of buying ads FFIC uses the money to get its name in the papers. It has a slight benefit for some of the fire companies, why don’t they do it for every fire dept in the country?

    Dear BJ:

Publicity stunt ? The way I read the article, it looks to me like Fireman’s Fund is doing a little more than just providing lip service, if you follow my drift.

For your edification, it is my understanding that as a follow up and a demonstration of their commitment to actually doing something positive to make everybody’s lives safer, they are forming a 501-3 (c) non profit corporation that will allow supportive agents and maybe other carriers to contribute for the well being of all. Yes, to some degree it is self serving, in that they will play a part in reducing catastrophe fire losses and perhaps saving lives, thus not paying some losses that can be prevented. Fireman’s Fund is not a non-profit organization.

Your question “Why don’t they do this for every fire department in the country” is an interesting one. Have you or the organization you work for done anything of a similar nature ? Why can’t we praise and support them for their efforts ? Well, maybe you can’t, but I will.

Fireman’s Fund, I salute you. May some of your other agents and some of your competitors wake up and smell the coffee. We have enough other challenges in the world and I applaud you for taking this step and looking out for your policyholders first. It only stands to reason that you will be rewarded with more business because you are doing the right thing. Ultimately everybody wins and for the right reasons.

Your parent company should be very proud of you and they deserve the dividends that will flow their way as you expand the communities that you provide assistance to.
I know that I’ll tell all of my clients about this and ask them “What does your current carrier do of a similar nature” ?

If you want the best value for your insurance, today, there is one company that stands without equal.
