WE NEED THIS NOT ONLY FOR SURGENS BUT MD’S ALSO. THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME ECONIMIC REASON FOR AN AWARD. I KNOW OF NO DRS WHO SET OUT TO INJURE. REMEMBER THEIR SAYING FIRST, DO NO HARM. I DO NOT INSURE DRS
I saw the news magazine segment calling for medical liability reform last night. I was saddened to hear of so many physicians who were planning to get out of private practice because it was no longer fiscally feasable to to carry the heafty malpractice insurance required to practice in the South Carolina. Doctors spend a long time and a lot of money to learn their trade. They are healers! I agree that they should carry insurance but said insurance should not be a penalty for the sake of litigeously greedy lawyers. In stark contrast to doctors, injury lawyers advertise to people who are sitting at home watching daytime TV in hopes of inspiring someone who might need money to come see them for a “Free” cosultation! Help put a stop to penalties for the medical community and rein in the greed that is so pervasive in the law community. God forbid…they may need the doctors that they are trying to put out of business.
In reading the article on malpractice I am really concerned about the doctors leaving private practices, for I live in Orageburg County. Here surgeons are thinking of quiting their practice for fear of beinng sued by their patients.I have two elderly parents with health problems what will we do if they are in need of healthcare. My family doctor is not allowed in the hospital because of the insuracne being so high to practice in the hopital and he is not the only doctor that can not go in the hospital. I say we need to do something about it.
