Great, if the state can only catch the other couple of thousand companies doing this then things will get better for the honest companies out there.

The insurance department of every state should publicize all WC fraud cases so that current and potential cheaters of the system – employers, employees, lawyers and doctors, etc., are warned what they face- huge monetary fines, not a slap on the wrist and significant time in prison.
Until the public is informed and made knowledgeable about how much money is paid out for fraudulent WC cases, we can’t expect a reduction in the number of fraud cases.
The sad part about WC fraud is that its a drop in the bucket when looking at the big picture of insurance fraud across the board. Hundreds of billions of dollars – imagine what rates and premiums could be without fraud and cheating in insurance!

In PA it’s a joke! SoleProp’s, LLC/LLP and Partnerships are not eligible for WC and it is NOT commercially available BUT if I work for a S or C Corp THEN THEY can be charged for the work comp. Go figure!

As to the Fraud….it’s everywhere and WC is only one area. Americans STILL don’t see it as a crime….stealing from an insurance company. The shift in thinking will only take place when people go to jail and the list are made public information.
