I agree 100% in principal. But there needs to be a trusting relationship (usually created from prior losses) between the adjuster and the contractor. The contractor needs to understand that he does not have a blank check to just fill in the amount. I’m an adjuster with 33 years (property) experience and i always solicit a contractor as soon as I get a loss notice. But if I get burned once, that contractor does not get a second chance.
