Texas Workers’ Comp Commissioner to Resign Aug. 1

Texas Workers’ Compensation Commissioner Rod Bordelon plans to resign from his post effective Aug. 1, the Insurance Council of Texas reported.

Bordelon has served as Commissioner for the past six years.

Insurance Council of Texas Executive Director Albert Betts praised the work of Bordelon, saying the commissioner kept a steady ship through turbulent waters.

“Through all of his years in state service Commissioner Bordelon has always been able to work with insurers to see that every company was treated fairly,” said Betts.

Prior to serving as commissioner, Bordelon headed the Office of Public Insurance Counsel for many years. In both positions, Bordelon was appointed by Governor Rick Perry.
