Seven people have been hospitalized in West Texas after an auto collision resulted in a vehicle being pushed through the outer wall of a fast-food restaurant.
Amarillo police say the accident happened Tuesday night when a tractor-trailer with a load of hay entered an intersection along a busy boulevard and struck a Honda with three people inside. The collision propelled the rig over a curb and into a McDonald’s parking lot where it struck an SUV.
The rig pushed the SUV into the McDonald’s. Two people inside the restaurant were among those transported to a hospital. Police say the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police Cpl. Sean Slover said Wednesday the initial collision was the result of a vehicle running a red light, but he wasn’t certain which one.
