Oklahoma AG Plans Workers’ Compensation Fraud Workshop

The Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office is planning a Workers’ Compensation Fraud Workshop.

The workshop is scheduled to start Tuesday in Duncan. It’s part of a yearlong effort by the Attorney General’s Office to educate businesses on signs of workers’ compensation fraud, how to avoid fraud and what evidence to collect to help prosecute workers’ compensation fraud statewide.

Attorney General Scott Pruitt says people who try to take advantage of the system must be held accountable. Pruitt says he wants businesses to know how to avoid fraud and report it.

Since Pruitt took office in January 2011, the number of workers’ comp fraud cases has risen 62 percent. The office’s Workers’ Compensation and Insurance Fraud Unit is the only state law enforcement agency dedicated to workers’ compensation fraud.
