Isaac Arrives Downing Trees in Southeastern Arkansas

August 31, 2012

Wind and rain from Isaac have arrived in Arkansas and trees are down in the far southeast corner of the state.

The Chicot County Sheriff’s Office says wind knocked down trees across the county and electricity was cut off in Eudora. The county judge’s office in Ashley County says a few dead trees were blown into roadways.

Neither county has any reports of injuries.

The National Weather Service in North Little Rock says heavy rain is expected in southeast Arkansas and a flash flood watch is in effect for most of the state.

In Garland County, sandbags were available for business owners in downtown Hot Springs to try to stave off expected flooding.

The weather service says Isaac won’t be clear of the state until late Friday.
