This is an interesting phenomenon. The fishermen incorretly assumed that mother nature would provide for their livelihood forever. Just for the sake of discussion, what would have happened if some natural cause interrupted their fishing? Who would they look to for compensation? Not the taxpayers I hope. The same goes for those who make a living off mother nature along the beach areas. They did absolutely nothing to capitalize on a natural resource and whenever there’s bad weather, they complain about not making money. Hello? Those are the risks associated with milking mother nature. Sometimes it’s good, other times not so good. You chose the profession. Deal with it.
Jester wtf…..lets redo your comment with a few words changed…..
BP incorretly assumed that mother nature would provide for their livelihood forever. Just for the sake of discussion, what would have happened if some blowout interrupted their Drilling? Who would they look to for compensation? The taxpayers. They did absolutely everything to capitalize on a natural resource and whenever there’s a bad oil spill, everyone pays the price for their ignorance. Hello? Those are the risks associated with milking mother nature. Sometimes it’s good, other times not so good. You chose the profession. Deal with it.
Unless and until all the claims and litigation is totally resolved, any allegations about a reduced harvest is nothing more than that. And for those that claim a specific area was harmed greater than all other areas, those in that area should figure out a way to move their businesses into the other less impacted areas. As a fisherman, you have mobility and should go where the fish are.
