A Dallas firefighter has been fired a week after he was arrested for allegedly robbing a bank.
A statement Tuesday from Dallas-Fire Rescue says 37-year-old Jesus Ventura of Irving has been terminated following an internal investigation. The agency had no other comment about Ventura, who remains in federal custody.
Ventura had been on paid leave since March when he allegedly fired a gun inside a fire station.
Investigators say Ventura on April 10 walked into a Dallas bank, demanded cash and gave the teller $20 from the stash before fleeing with the money.
The off-duty firefighter was arrested minutes later while allegedly trying to hold up a nearby business. The bank cash was recovered.
Ventura told a judge, during a court appearance last week, that he has bipolar disorder issues.
