Rain Floods Some Roads in Oklahoma, Arkansas

Authorities say heavy rain caused flooding in parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas, but no injuries have been reported.

The National Weather Service on Wednesday cancelled flood and flash flood watches for both states after thunderstorms moved out of the area.

Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches were common in southeastern Oklahoma and in Arkansas, where some roads were affected.

McCurtain County emergency management director Gregory Campbell told The Oklahoman eight bridges and six roads were flooded. The sheriff’s department said there were no reports of injuries or stranded motorists.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said Arkansas Highway 80 near Evening Shade; Arkansas Highway 252 near Lavaca and Arkansas Highway 282 near Rudy were closed because of high water.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or stranded motorists.
