Another groundless suit. This guy was an adult and not being sanctioned or licensed had nothing to do with his death. He assumed the risk by entering the contest. Probably had some un-diagnosed condition.

I don’t usually think of church as a place people go to beat the crap out of each other.

It not being sanctioned had everything to do with his death, if their was a pre-existing condition a pre fight physical could have detected it and a doctor would have been at the fight, a licensed referee would have been used etc etc, true he had free will to fight but the church has been breaking the law for years and should be punished

It is not a groundless lawsuit. The suit doesn’t alleviate the responsibilities of Mr. Clinkscale. However; it does say that Guts Church ALSO had a responsibility to provide the safest environment possible and that all necessary safety precautions were taken. That obviously did not happen. There’s a reason that it’s illegal to have non-sanctioned events like the one that night. It’s because too many corners are cut and events becomes more and more dangerous as that happens. Here’s the question that concerns me the most: Why was a church hosting an event like this? For what purpose was a church that proclaims to follow God’s will doing hosting a fight??? Although there is no direct correlation, this reminds me of the money changers in the temple. How would Jesus react if he were there in human form?? Would he cheer the fighters, pastor and guests on??? Or would he turn the tables upside down and proclaim with a furious voice “it is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.” THIS IS NOT HOW A CHURCH IS SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT THE HOLY GOD and it is an embarrassment to Him.

This whole story is so sad. It should’ve never happened.
