Is it just me or does $86mm seem excessive for legal fees on on such a case as this?

$35,833 in legal fees per claiment is assinine! This is another case of an attorney running amuck. Tort reform is needed. The attorneys in the legislature did not want to raise rates to pay claims. As many are attorneys, probably not a problem to raise the rates to pay this!

Mostyn is your typical Personal Injury attorney who happens to be along with his wife one of the largest contributors to the Democratic gubernatorial candidate who if elected will probably reverse tort reform. On the other hand much of the damage paid by TWIA was a result of rising water and not covered because the owners of these beaches houseses opted not to purchase flood. TWIA should not have paid anything.

Holy smokes $86M in legal fees???? Really? Its crazy to think TWIA will end up settling this and then assessing inland carriers (consumers) to pay for this (and all the claims in general), because the wind pool is not actuarially sound. If we want to do something about the HO rates in Texas we should start here and run off these freaking lawyers!
