Cheap vote-buying ploy. He won’t follow through or will say repubs blocked it. Democrats don’t make anything cheaper.

I have had enough of the politicians whining about insurance rates as if they are out of control. This dem candidate is taking a cheap shot at insurance companies. Econ 101, more competition equals better rates. Stifle competition and don’t capture the cost of your product, fewer competitors, therefore less supply.

“A return to state regulated rates would stifle competition and create little or no incentive for insurers to compete for the best price,” said Jerry Johns

This is exactly what will happen if Texas turns to state mandated rate increases. We are on the tail end of this in Florida and it is falling like a house of cards. It does not work.

If Mr. White can put an end to Texas’ hurricane and hailstorm exposures, he’s got my vote.

if White understood TX is exposed much greater than “Iowa”, that is why rates are higher. With a -.08% Return on investment, he will chase off what little competition exists in that State for H.O.

Idiot liberal promising things he knows NOTHING about. Same as his leader. Barry “Community Organizer” Obamination.
The libs are leaving office very SOON!

White is from Houston; give me a company wanting to write insurance there with decent deductibles and I’ll move my agency.

Please… put down the crack pipe! If you want to do something for Texas homeowners, run an actuarially sound Wind Pool. There is no reason 240 inland counties should have to subsidize the 14 coastal counties. Remove some of the old statutes and give the companies the ability to more accurately price their risks and help the efficiency of the market place. Please heed the advice from Florida and understand forcing companies to LOOSE MONEY will not help the Texas homeowners. Period. End of story! But I guess this is a moot point because you will NEVER get elected as Governor of Texas. We don’t want the rest of our state to be like Houston! Dumb A$$.

IJ Readers – give me a shout out if you agree…

Bill doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of beating Perry. And I don’t even like Rick Perry. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out why HO rates and deductibles are high in Texas — hail, tornados, high wind, hurricanes, you name it we got it!

At least it isn’t Kay Bailey Hutchison– she sold her vote to the highest bidder long ago. Can’t wait to replace her in 2012 with a true conservative who won’t co-sponsor monopoly rent and lawyer-boon bills with Chuck Schumer (such as her bill to remove the copyright exemption for the fashion & design industry).

White, You are a typical liberal control freak who doesn’t believe in the free market. You conveniently forgot about the rate decreases in HO in 03. Except for State Farm, the wonderful good neighbor, the other markets reduced their rates. Also, Texas is blessed with having the most unpredictable weather in the country from Hurricanes to Hail and usually have the largest cat claims when they have a storm. Texas and Florida should have the highest rates due to the exposure.
