What’s next? No malpractice for elective surgery for cosmetic purposes or for any elective surgery?
Rather or not you agree with abortion (and it is obvious that the Louisiana legilature doesn’t), this seems to be just a back door way of strong arming doctors into refusing to perform legal abortions in Lousiana.
Killing an unborn child due to poor birth control does not qualify for coverage. A Dr. has the option to not perform the procedure, if he does and it goes wrong, that is on the woman.
This is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. Regardless of beliefs, abortion is legal. Breast enhancements are elective and never once have I heard of an enhancement being done to “save the life” of the woman. So why is abortion being singled out? Idiot conservatives that would rather see more children jumping from foster home to foster home or draining the economy because their parents are on welfare because they can’t afford the children that they are FORCED to have. Then there are those children born addicted to drugs because the addict mother couldn’t get an abortion (by the way – that baby will need expensive medical care that will be paid from our taxes). Not to mention all of those young girls who will try and perform the abortion themselves because they aren’t able to get the necessary medical attention that they need. People should really keep their religious beliefs in check and see that doing this will only cause different (and more severe)problems. And for all you “pro-lifers” I hope that you have adopted children that you care for or else you have no right to voice your opinion of what other people should do.
Only Progressives/Liberals have abhortions for convenience.
The hand that rocks the cradle guides the nation.
Therefore more abhortions = fewer liberals.
Do you really think the Republican take over 21 years after Roe v Wade is a coincidence?
Remember George Bush (the one with a brain)? When asked what if his daughter were pregnant and was deciding on an abortion or not, he said they would make that “decision” if and when it came up. A “real” pro lifer wouldn’t have a “decision” to make. You’re all just sheep with this issue; the Republicans feign pro life support, yet never push anything to limit or stop abortion (you had 8 years of unfettered government and did NOTHING). The Democrats put themselves up as the only party to vote for if you want to “keep it legal”.
The political parties play both sides to buy your votes. If you vote based on abortion only, you’re a complete idiot.
I find it very interesting that “y’all” conservatives who decry “big government” are perfectly willing to interject government laws into the most personal and the most wrenching decision a woman can make.
This is NONE of your business. The doctor can refuse to do the procedure if he wishes, but this debate has gone from med mal to abortion rights…I am sure you will never convince me and I will never convince you, so just stay out of my very personal business.
You all who are so sanctimonious, I hope no one close to you ever has to make the decision to have an abortion. We’ll see how you jump in circles to rationalize then. it is so easy to debate in the abstract.
This became political from a response to the root thread. Since then no one has cried big government..
I’d advise you to be weary of who you accuse of thinking in the abstract. I know several people who have made that decision and the psychological impact is DEVASTATING and they are haunted by it. The fact that you acknowledge how “wrenching” it is only validates this as a moral issue of the right thing to do.
You can excuse any action or behavior predicated on “You don’t know how it feels until it happens to you.” And somehow that justifies the end result??? Riight.
No one doubts that the decision to have an abortion is extremely difficult – it should be. As to wanting the government involved in the decision that ship has sailed, so even though I do not consider abortion to be right am not advocating that. But I am tired of people who think that because of this, or because I believe people should be responsible for themselves and make better decisions that avoid these kinds of decisions that I am to quote Jezebel “a narrow minded idiot”. I probably would not have sent a single response to this article if not for bizaare characterization made of conservatives early on in this discussion thread. First line of first response here was I did not think Lousiana should be involved in eliminating elective abortions from medmal, I do think doctors when they screw up should be held accountable. I am conservative, I believe abortion is wrong (an opinion I am entitled to have), I also think the vast majority of abortions are not done out a need any more pressing than convenience of either the potential mother or father and that if a doctor doing the procedure does something in the process that harms the women it is being performed on that was avoidable that they should be held accountable. Not going to comment any more so have a field day with this if you wish, it should be noted that the only mean spirited comments here prior to my sarcastic reply to the last Jezebel note did not come from this conservative.

P.S.: May God have mercy on us for tolerating this Holocaust.
You’re just a complete dumbass of course.

>>signed, a Catholic.
Oh, and you can’t legislate it’s end if you can’t even spell “abortion”…
