I agree kpop. A national data base would be a great start in stopping this fraud.

I’m going out on a limb here. I bet the stagers don’t even carry BI/PD coverage, yet they still win the lottery. As much as I hate CA, they got it right. No play, no pay. No pain & suffering payouts if not insured, just actual loss sustained.

as a start if they tracked claimants by social security number the comapnies could exchange this information and possible curtail some of this activity. The same way with work comp and employment related practices liability. Once these people figure the system out, they can expoit it for years without being caught.

Unfortunately, there is no shortage of people willing to commit insurance fraud. I have seen a lot of this and it seems to be growing with the poor economy. One of the more popular things they do is pass an unsuspecting motorist ( usually in a high end car) and slam on their brakes causing a rear end collision. The Police usually sides with the party getting rear ended and then the carrier has to pay BI & PD on several people. Kind of a dangerous game to play, but they are willing to take the risk for the possible rewards of deep pockets.

We do get some things right here in CA. I’m sure if you looked around you could find the same things to hate about your own state.

To don’t hate us too much,

No offense to you my friend. Nevada sucks too :) BTW, I was born and raised there.

    To RT,

Good to know there is a national data base. The question is, is it used? Tend to think not, since staged accidents are the hot ticket now.

The level of ineptitude with Law Enforcement is legend in my area. Three years ago, I was hit by a U/M running a red light and he totalled my car and he had no license or insurance and tried to leave the scene. The cop investigating the accident didn’t bother to check his computer for warrants and he had a record for every offense in the book. Instead, they let him go and couldn’t find him later and I was stuck with a U/M claim. This guy should have gone straight to jail just like these staged auto claimants, but the Police are asleep at the switch.
