Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Agent Accused of Misappropriating Premium

April 9, 2010

The Louisiana Department of Insurance reported that a Baton Rouge, La., insurance agent has been served with a cease and desist order, license revocation and a $2,500 fine notice for alleged misappropriation of premium.

Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators allege that David Mark Lehman, 55, failed to timely remit $11,542 in premiums to the life insurance company with which he was employed. He has paid back a portion of the balance of premium but still owes the company $2,171.

Department records show that Lehman was issued a Life, Health and Accident license in September 1988 which was valid until the current suspension. His license will be revoked in 30 days unless he requests a hearing with the Department of Insurance to contest the regulatory action taken against him.
