Mr. Perry was a major donor to the swift-boat propoaganda campain against John Kerry in support of the President who did not make all his family-arranged National Guard meetings, in lieu of service in the Vietnam War.

This how the Republican power brokers treat the little people.

I hope they are investigating these judges who sided with the builder. The homeowners win in all ways except when they are up against the judges who got campaign contributions. Hmmmm. This guy sounds arrogant and should have paid the homeowners when it was $800,000.

Investigate? Investigate? This is normal! This is the system in Texas (see also the coal case in West Virginia for corruption in that state). No one will investigate. This is business. This is the way things are done.

Perry and other homebuilders openly bought themselves a law change in the legislature in Texas through campaign contributions some years ago requiring arbitration on construction defects in homes. It was and is staffed and run by industry people. Guess who came out on the good side of those arbitrations? The homebuilders. Public outrage is only now making a dent but the outcome is most uncertain–probably nothing will change.

Guess who was also on that court in Texas before vaulting into the Senate? John Fringe Cowboy Jacket Big John Cornyn. (I didn’t know they made those things in adult sizes…) Getting the picture by now, right?

And then Rove and Bush brought that whole sorry Texas show and Texas way of “doin’ bidness” to Washingotn as a front for Cheney to run the country. You can’t make up stuff this good!

Hey guess why no immigration reform? Because immigrants build most of the homes for cheap that are then sold at regular prices. Cool! Guess who was one of the bigger Bush donors? You got it!

And let’s not even get into Enron and Phil and Wendy Gramm, etc. etc. The whole place smells like a feedlot.

It’s all the Republican’s fault. Things are so much better now with the liberals in charge of the federal government. Thank God (or gods, or goodness in your case) they’re fixing everything Dubya broke in his 8 years…

Set the crack pipe down and step back.

If you think corruption was bad under the Bush Administration, they smell like roses compared to the Progressive/Socialists in charge right now. No wonder new home sales are at an all time low and we bail out Fanny & Freddie every time they need some cash. Gimmee, gimmee, gimmee. Can’t wait until November.

well, first of all, did you actually read the article:

“Court records show Perry Homes agreed to arbitration. After an arbiter awarded the Culls $800,000, Perry Homes claimed the couple had waived their rights to arbitration and went to court.”

It was the Culls that waived the right of arbitration and go to court. what i don’t see is what the cost of the home would have been if there had not been any defaults and why did they show up now? what if there was a small earthquake that may have changed the foundation and framing after it was built. now that the trial is over, they made out like a bandit getting $58mill for a $200k home. now they can live like kings!

This judgment is absurd as is the jury who made the award and the judge who let it stand. This is a property damage loss and the measure of loss is the value of the defective home, in this case $233,000. Even throwing the old people a bone for their aggravation, the claim isn’t worth $750,000. I’d fight it too.

You would think this was a Bodily Injury suit or wrongful death on this jury award. Talk about Punitive Damages. Juries don’t understand about these things. The Home Builder should have been penalized and made these people whole, but not to this extent. Bankrupting a business is not the answer to correcting a wrong.

Get real- the current administration was handed a tremendous mess created by that low-brow idiot Bush. Obama could have brought so much positive change to this country, but his 8 years will be dominated by correcting Bush’s asleep@the wheel, war-mongering policy effects. Honestly, I bet even YOU wouldn’t invite Bush to speak to your business group. He’s less popular in retirement than was Nixon! I said he’d stay low and drunk on his ranch in retirement, and I was right! Not that that ain’t a a bad end… assuming you had other options and CHOSE that.

So you’re saying ease up because he has to deal with PROBLEMS??!!! You mean that he could’ve made positive change if only everything was already going positive? Damn that Bush! He ruined Obama’s time to shine! C’mon people, Obama and his supporters have been milkin the ‘look what I’ve been handed by the Bush Administration and it’s Republicans’ bit for too long. It’s a mask to cover up the fact that the dems don’t know what the hell their doing. Let’s stop blaming blaming blaming and look at the solutions he’s come up with in a year and half…hmm, ZERO. Priorities aren’t straight, the debt is sky rocketing, thats a fact no matter how you fight it and socialism is in the air. None of that has to do with Bush, or I mean Cheney because for some reason they put Bush in office so Cheney could be the vice president so HE could really secretly be president Get off your high horses ‘your president’ isn’t doing any better.
