    -and hopefully it will reduce fraud and protect privacy. One concern though is that it will be more difficult and take longer for adjusters to contact claimants without this info. (If the parties don’t swap info on their own at the scene.)

    This one works both ways. A phone number may be used to cross reference claimants to detect fraud as well. This avoids problems when names are similar or common since the phone number is by nature discrete as an identifier.

    Don’t allow the purchase of these records for the purpose of soliciting people for anything.

    What is more disgusting, protecting accident victim privacy or sorting through accident reports to cold call the victims?
