The fact that a vehicle normally used to bait people who were likely to commit insurance fraud wound up being the target of two murder suspects, who got caught as a result of trying to steal the car.
No, my good Doctor, it’s not to prevent insurance fraud (not sure how it would even do that)? Anyway, the “bait vehicles” are donated to police so that they can track down auto thieves. The vehicles have GPS tracking devices, bugging devices and cameras in them to record conversations and help identify the people stealing the “Bait Car”. This way there’s no doubt once it gets to court who the perpetrators were. No more “I didn’t know it was stolen” or “It wasn’t me” defenses. It’s cut down on the number of vehicle thefts in areas where it’s been implemented, saving the insurance carriers hundreds of thousands of dollars in stolen car claims. It just so happened that when they caught these particular criminas, it was a double whammy becasue they were also wanted on murder charges. Good!! Get ’em off the streets!!
I wonder how long before the bait car surveillance footage and audio begin airing relentlessly on TruTV or one of the Fox Reality Channel’s crime in action programs!!
They already show bait car footage! Very funny – I think it is great – everything is documented via sound and video and there are NO QUESTIONS as of the criminal intent!
