    Wow.

Insurance Commissioners can sometimes provide a valuable service to the citizens of a state. However, seeing that the state itself (Citizens) didn’t move fast enough in settling the claims, is a little comical really. Private insurers are probably held to much higher standard.

I wonder if the insured’s filed insurance commissioner complaints regarding the delays?

There were simply not enough experienced claims professionals in the entire industry to address this storm as quickly as everyone would like. It’s too bad they’re all getting a bonus check for it.

As a citizen of La., but not a policyholder of Citizens, I am already assessed for claims of an insurance company that I am not insured with.

Seems to me we should assess Orleans and St. Bernard Citizens policyholders a one-time fee of $5,000.00.

This was the most devastating hurricane (ever?) and it was physically impossible to settle all claims within the state mandated 30 days of notification.
