My guess is you’ve never been on a motorcycle in yo life, probably because your mommy wouldn’t let you when you were a kid, and your wife won’t let you as an adult. What kind of knuckle head are you to make such a comment about wishing fatal accidents on people you neither know or understand. Eat **** and die you *******.

I’m sure health insurance companies love this…… They should have the right to restrict payment from injuries sustained in a crash where a rider wasn’t wearing a helmet. Now everyone’s rates are going to go up because a few folks don’t want to wear helmets. What’s next – let people choose if they want to wear seatbelts – or letthem deide if they want make their kids set in car seats? Come on folks.

Smoking cigarettes drives up insurance premiums. Why isn’t there a law against that?

People that are overweight are still allowed to eat a 1/4 pounder everyday…which may kill them, and we’ll all pay for his/her health care. Shouldn’t there be a law that overweight people can’t eat fatty foods? Adults need to think for themselves, but the problem is that the government uses my taxes to pay for someone else’s stupid decision. I shouldn’t have to pay for someone else’s stupid decision….

If some people don’t care about their personal safety why should the government or anyone else. I agree with all the comment made here. Do what you want, but don’t expect me to subsidize your expenses because you could have avoided serious injuries or death, but refused to use the preventive equipment provided. The world would be a better place without this idiots anyway so we can only hope their accidents are fatal.

I agree we shouldn’t have to pay for others bad decisions – but we do. We all pay taxes, and when a cyclist is hauled in to the emergency room at your local hospital, they are going to give him all the treatment he needs without asking for his insurance card first. and when he is declared indigent, then you taxpayers are going to pay for it. doesn’t matter whether you think we should or not: we will pay for his medical expense; that’s just the society we live in, like it or not. so by not requiring helmets, the cost of the medical expense for those costs is going to be born by the rest of society, whether you believe in freedom of choice or not. so the statement that whether to wear a helmet is not just a matter of the “freedom of choice” of the individual, it’s the passing along to the rest of society his future medical expenses. that’s the way we have established our civilzed society, so live with it.

I have seen riders wearing a brain bowl that restricts neither vision or hearing. Maybe Mr. Morris should look into purchasing a different kind of helmet.

Roland, get over yourself. I don’t see that anyone on this site actually wants any rider to die. We just see these idiots riding with their soft melons exposed to the pavement and see people who appear to have a death wish. I’m alive because of my helmet. I was in a non helmet state all last week and the “choice” is that 95% of the riders choose no helmets. Natural selection is the phrase I have heard and it certainly applies. Brain bowl helmets provide about as much protection as wearing a baseball cap. Kind of stupid looking too. Your freedom to be ignorant of the cost you cause society is not a good reason to change these laws.

I.ve been a hard working tax payer for all of at least 35+ years, plus, I carry Max. Ins. on all my vehicles. I will never be a burden to the taxpayers, not like other factions of society. If I choose not to wear a helmet, and I can provide the necessary ins. so as not to be a burden on anyone, who among you has the right to tell me what I can or cannot do? I say, let those who ride decide. FYI, I do wear a helmet all the time, but there are some instances when it would be nice to have the choice. Sorry if I came on a little strong, thnis is a very touchy subject with me…

It’s touchy with me too. Unless you and other “choice” advocates are paying 100% of the costs of your “choice”, its a cost that others have to pay. Play brave hero with your money, not mine.
