    Carona said his bill is not about catching drunk drivers, it’s about stopping people from driving drunk in the first place.
    ======================

    Checkpoints are about deterrence and not about arresting drunk drivers? What?

    Someone needs to explain to me how this deterrent statistic can be proven. Oh the MADD run NHTSA said it is so it must by true. Yep.

    The second measure, one that would allow sobriety checkpoints, received tentative approval from the Senate. SB 298, by Dallas Senator John Carona, would allow the use of checkpoints to randomly stop drivers in an effort to find drunk drivers.

    ==================

    Sorry, I get it. Mr Carona speaks out of both sides of his mouth. It’s to “find” drunk drivers, not “arrest” drunk drivers.

    LOL

    well, how are they going to be able to read a notice on the cellphone, if they are intoxicated to driver a vehicle? do we have to give them a reading test? or hearing test, in case of voicemail? or why not the keypand entry on the vehicle?
