OSHA: Harrison, Ark., Firm Should Pay $63K in Fines

February 23, 2009

A Harrison, Ark., construction firm with work sites at Clinton should pay $63,000 in penalties for exposing employees to hazards in trenches, OSHA said Feb. 18.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration said it proposed the penalties for Henley Construction Inc. after citing the company for two willful and three repeat violations of OSHA standards.

“Failure to protect employees from potential trenching and excavation hazards is unacceptable,” said Carlos Reynolds, OSHA’s area director in Little Rock, Ark. “It is fortunate in this case that no one was injured.”

The citations and fines resulted from an inspection Nov. 4 at the company’s worksites on U.S. 65 in Clinton, according to a news release.
