This is the second Lloyd’s Ins. Co. in a row to go bankrupt on me. I will definitley not insure with any co that has Lloyd’s in it.

Lloyds of London have been in business since the 17th century.

One should be conscious of similitudes in the soliciting of business.

Having Lloyds in the name doesn’t mean anything in Texas anymore. They used to be unregulated companies but that’s all changed.

Just stay away from the little companies and you’ll be fine. Texas Select liked to not underwrite.

You’ll be A-OK with Lloyd’s of London. Like the other post said…they are the longest living insurance entity in the world. They actually started insurance and are still around today…going strong!

Except that Lloyds of London is not licensed in Texas, and is sold thru surplus lines licensees, and therefore is not participating in the Guarantee Fund, does not have to sell approved forms, and does not have to answer to TDI in almost anyway, except payment of premium taxes…Surplus Lines would only be for extremely uninsurable risks…

Lloyds in Texas is a type of license. Carriers are required to have LLoyds in their name if they have the Lloyds license. One Lloyds company does not stand for all Lloyds companies. These are very common in Texas.

So at this point, if you had a hurricane Ike claim w/ Austin Indemnity you’re basically screwed seeing as the current injunction absolves them from insured persons lawsuits. It has been four months since Ike and I can’t get my roof repaired…and now their talking about another 90 days to get a partial payment from the insurance guarranty association, that won’t even pay for the repairs….remind me…exactly why in the hell I pay for insurance?? To protect their salaries and profit margins? What a joke! I actually pay people so that in the event that something happens they can take their sweet time in evaluating it, process it for three months and then file for insolvency to avoid paying it all together…isn’t that what the mafia offers? To me it sounds kind of like deceptive trade practices. I mean what other industry could you get away with such nonsense other than maybe…THE BANKING INDUSTRY. We don’t need terrorists to come destroy our country, I’d say we’re doing a mighty fine job of it ourselves.

I agree. i filed a claim in OCt and cannot get any kind of a resolution. In the meantime, my roof, door and fence remains unrepaired. They sure took my insurance premimum when due, but where are we to go for protection from them? I will never, never use them again for anything. by the way, i intend on getting my fair money because that is what we all paid for. as long as we allow deceitful practices to continue, the more we get screwed.
