Where is the Texas DOI in all of this. Excess insurance, flood and wind, could have been purchased and should be purchased on what is left. The State of Texas should have a state self insurance program that provides a source for insurance on public buildings.

Yep’n, FEMA is non-responding just like for Katrina–only this time it is low-profile and no one seems to notice or care about the beautiful little community that was Galveston trying to make it back….who says FEMA can’t learn?

I am very sorry the Schools are having financial trouble but really, how can you live on an island and worry about wind but not worry about water?

Let’s see – the deadliest hurricane other than Katrina hit Galveston, and Katrina with the immense flooding issues was just three years ago – and the idiots running the Galveston schools say, gee, we thought wind was the problem?

Give me a break!! These are the same people who will whine for a national catastrophe plan, never conceding for a moment that having a city on an island in the Gulf is simply a bad idea…
