In 2006 Texas received over 16 million to develop an emergency housing program. They chose to go with something akin to what is used in UN refugee camps. Was the program ready for IKE? Texas was not the only state that received funds. Congress provided a total of $400 million for the Gulf coast states to develop alternative housing. Just asking.

“FEMA spokesman Simon Chabel defended his agency’s response, saying the agency is responding quickly and compassionately, according to an Associated Press report. He said the agency has spent more than $250 million to help find temporary housing for Ike victims.”

Yeah, and I’ve heard that they will give you $100 a day to rent a hotel room – but denied a request to pay $400 for a month’s rent to a victim who was able to secure an apartment for their family for that amount – Hummmmm $3000 a month to live in a Hotel – or $400 a month to live in an apartment – Not an unreasonable request –

Thanks to the Government – They’re throwing (I could come up with a better description) away hundreds of thousands of dollars of J Q Public’s tax money because they can’t make a concious decision on what is the better investment – – – – America… What a country – Thanks to Bureaucrats and red tape…

The Texas lawmaker said “We want the same thing for Texas that they did for Louisiana.”

Does he really mean that we wants to hurricane impacted people of Texas to wait for months before they receive travel trailers? Does he want the head of FEMA to tell Congress that the people of Texas are dysfunctional? Does he want FEMA to but the recovery on hold while they bicker with local and state officials over damage estimates? Does he want the only hospital in Galveston to sit idle for three years while people suffer from a variety of ailments?

Dear God, please do not let FEMA do to the people of Texas what they did to us.
