As a Louisianan, I take umbrage at the fact that this woman would play the race card. Believe me, in Louisiana, especially NOLA, as an African American you can right your own ticket and also if you have the right last name such Landrieu, Borderaux or anything that remotely sounds French. It’s equal opportunity, child. So what if you’re Black. Baby, you got caught! Do you understand what “caught” means? You and the Jeffersons give politicians Black & White a bad name. Louisiana has an East Indian American governor and this is PROGRESS. I actually crossed party lines and voted for him! You were convicted for this BEFORE! Why haven’t you learned your lesson??!! Serve your time and hopefully you too can one day become a law abiding citizen like the rest of us regardless of RACE.

This woman was convicted of a crime which apparently involved some corrupt Louisiana politicians. Her response is “race card”? Until blacks start taking responsibility for their criminal actions, rather than claim faults in our justice system, their discrimination allegations will fall on deaf ears, and actually put their cause further behind.

Wall Street is run by who???? Not the point….If your point is that there is corruption on Wall Street, you are right. Still not an excuse to steal your money from others! The point of my comment is not really corruption, it’s blacks claiming they were unfairly treated when convicted in our criminal justice system….She was convicted because she was GUILTY.

What does Wall Street have to do with bogus construction bonds? Wall Street does not write bonds, insurance companies write them. I fail to see your tie-in to Wall Street as much as I fail to see the relationship between race and commiting and being convicted of a crime…

    Enlighten me, please?

The rest of the country too.
Double standards, like Affirmative Action that Colin Powell espouses.
    It goes against human nature.

Audit details reported theft by police official
The State Inspector General’s Office has finally issued its audit investigation of Debra Johnson, the former executive director of the Louisiana Police Commission who was arrested in May for allegedly buying nearly $12,000 in electronics and other goods with the commission’s purchasing card. The audit paints a picture of a public employee who saw her salary continually increased over a six-year period, from $50,400 to more than $108,000. According to interviews recounted in the audit, “every employee” told investigators that Johnson worked only two or three days a week. Additionally, auditors discovered that Johnson showed up to work only 14% of the time from 2005-06. The investigation revealed that in 2001, Johnson sued the commission and alleged that merit pay increases were withheld because of racial discrimination. The commission eventually settled the case, giving her $13,224 as compensation for general wages. “It appears that fear of another such lawsuit by Ms. Johnson hampered the level of oversight by the commission, making it possible for her to engage in systematic misconduct over a significant period of time without detections,” the audit states. As for what Johnson was able to make off with before being detected, the audit’s catalog includes laptop bags, computers, software, cameras, cell phones, BlackBerrys, a television and more. Most of the items were photographed inside Johnson’s home and are displayed in the audit here.—Jeremy Alford

Bulldog….you are right….wall street has nothing to do with it….it was commenter “suspicious” who made that odd leap. my comment is in response to the woman convicted claiming she was wronged by the system since she was black…..take responsibility!

I was speaking of this particular Black person and NOT Black people in general so you’re the one that off course. As for you and possibly some of the other commentors my original statement was NOT an entree to jump on the Black race. You can make the arguement that Whites need to take responsibilty for current economic crisis as they are the ones that mostly run the country but honey I really don’t have to go there.

Save your views for the voting booths in the coming weeks.

The responsibility for the current economic crisis should be credited to those who ignored basic common sense. Black or White, you don’t take out loans that you can’t afford to pay. Those that initiated that process ( Liberals ) and those that stymied attempted regulation, again ( Liberals ) were at the forefront. You don’t have the “right ” to own anything unless you can afford to pay for it. Blaming the mortgage companies for following the rules set up by those individuals who initated these programs is an attempt shift blame. Nothing else!!!!!!!!
