Yes, they should make them street legal on roads with speed limits under 45. It would be helpful in smaller towns, and rural towns. I could ride my utv to the grocery store, the post office, and the hardware store. I live in a small town and the speed limit on 90% of the roads is under 45mph.

As a retired police office who now lives in the country, I think that UTVs and ATVS should be legal on country roads since farmers, ranchers and hunters use them there. If they are street legal, but I do NOT think the driver should be required to have a driver’s license since kids 12 and up drive them in the country. Amish farmers here have kids driving huge tractors down the road, including interstate highways, and tractors and farm equipment are not street legal and the operator has no DL. So why make it different for ATVs and UTVs? Also, anyone can drive a golf cart on the road here, including gas driven golf carts, but not gas driven UTVs…which are almost identical, but built stronger and safer!

would any parent want their children driving a utv or atv when there is two state hyways with fast and heavy trucks and autos going through the town, even though it is a small town, and the utvs and atvs have no safety equipment?

I think that we should be able to. I was in Az 2 months ago and you can drive them on the roads just not the Interstate. Sounds like a great idea.In the city you have to have a DL just do it like the motorcycle DL you have to be 14 and no bigger than a 125 cc.

In response to “who would win between a utv and a truck”…my truck every time, but my utv would beat my street legal motorcycle every day of the week.

if they let atvs and utvs on the streets,is that with a drivers licence or without? if it is without, all motor vehicles should not be required to have any type of insurance,or licence. how can you put vehicles on the road that is not safe.they are OFF THE ROAD VEHICLES,and that is how they were constructed.

I think this would be a really great thing to happen in oklahoma because most of the people are farmers and ranchers who need an easy way to get around all there land with a vehicle with good MPG and still enough room for equipment

i’m sorry but if they made these vehicles legal, they should also be held liable for the injuries and deaths. these vehicles are NOT made to combine with cars and trucks on the road. the farmers are not restricted from using them on their land.

atv’s need to be street legal, they are safer than a motorcycle and with everyone wanting to save energy why not. they would be easy to convert and make legal. and with all the revenue the states would be makeing off this it’s a no brainer.
