The ACLU was founded by Roger Baldwin to advance Communism, and has remained true to his ideals.

The ACLU was founded by a number of people, including a Supreme Court Associate Justice. They defended anyone whose civil rights were threatened, which did include some Communists, but Communists were barred from the organization’s leadership. The courthouse should have known what they were doing was against the law and could have easily avoided the lawsuit. I’m sure you’d be the first to complain if the picture was of Vishnu instead of Jesus. Our country is best served by people knowing the facts and not by spewing lies.

Barred? Baldwin was barred? It was founded as the Emergency Civil Liberties COmmittee or the like, whose sole purpose was to defend Communists in court.

There are depictions of prophets and holy men on govt buildings. Speaking of govt buildings:

“Laus Deo,” Latin for “Praise God.” -Inscribed on the eastern face of the apex of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C., so placed as to be the first thing illuminated at sunrise in our nation’s capitol.

“Holiness unto the Lord,” Exodus 28:36. “Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not; for such is the Kingdom of God,” St. Luke 18:16. “Search the Scriptures,” St. John 5:39. -Inscribed on the starircase walls inside the Washington Monument, Washington, D.C.

“Proclaim Liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof,” Leviticus 25:10. -Inscribed on the Libert Bell.

“In God we Trust.” -The official motto of the United States of America. It is found on the wall in the well of the U.S. Congress behind the seat of the Speaker of the House. It is also found in your wallet.

“God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever. Commerce between master and slave is despotism. Nothing is more certainly written in the book of fate than that these people are to be free. Establish a law for educating the common people. This it is the business of the state and on a general plan.” -The Jefferson Memorial, Washington, D.C.

“Almighty God hath created the mind free. All attempts to influence it by temporal punishments or burthens . . . are a departure from the plan of the Holy Author of our religion . . . No man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship or ministry or shall otherwise suffer on account of his religious opinions or belief, but all men shall be free to profess and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion. I know but one code of morality for men whether acting singly or collectively.” -The Jefferson Memorial, Washington, D.C.

“What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with thy God,” Micah 6:8. “The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament showeth His handywork,” Psalm 19:1. “The light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not,” St. John 1:5. “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and withall thy getting, get understanding,” Proverbs 4:7. -On the walls of the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.

“One God, one Law, one element, and faroff Divine event to which the whole creation moves.” -Alfred Lord Tennyson, in the rotunda of the Library of Congress.

“The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits,” 2 St. Timothy 2:6. -Inscribed on the front of the Department of Agriculture, Washington, D.C.

Just because you have a voluminous answer doesn’t make any of it relevant.
Error #1: Baldwin was not barred but did the barring.
Error #2: A memorial containing quotes from people who have used God in a statement is not the same as hanging a picture.
Error #3: God is not equal to Jesus for the vast majority of people so its pretty obvious that quotes about God do not equal pictures of Jesus.
Error #4: The case law is pretty clear on whats acceptable and whats not. Your examples above just fit into the acceptable category. They don’t disprove what was decided to be not acceptable.

He barred all Communists but himself – only after the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. It was a PR move. Earl Browder, head of the CPUSA, exclaimed that the ACLU was a “transmission belt” for Communism. It has never behaved otherwise.

There are Bible verses all over the federal buildings in D.C. This is a lot more of an endorsement than an imaginary picture. Congress, the ssenate, and the supreme court begin their sessions with prayer. It went on in congress before there was a constitution, and the Constitution did not end the pracctice. How can the Constitution be employed to take down an artist’s rendering of Christ while this goes on?

Your error #3 is especially silly. If God and Jesus are not held as equals, jesus obviously comes in second. Why would references to God on public buildings therefore be ok, but not an imaginary picture of Jesus?

When did the word “congress” in the 1st Amendment become a synonym for school board or county council or whatever? As to stare decesis, every heard of Dred Scott?

“Earl Browder, head of the CPUSA, exclaimed that the ACLU was a “transmission belt” for Communism. It has never behaved otherwise.”
A moron said it, you believe it.

    “jesus obviously comes in second”
A belief in a deity does not equal Christianity.

    “Dred Scott”
So, you also would like to bring back slavery?

I guess you also believe that Rush doesn’t make them up?

    >>”Earl Browder, head of the CPUSA, exclaimed that the ACLU was a “transmission belt” for Communism. It has never behaved otherwise.”

    >A moron said it, you believe it.

Yeah what a stretch: founded by Communists, lauded by Communists, advancing Communist goals, but couldn’t possibly be Communist.

    >>”jesus obviously comes in second”

    >A belief in a deity does not equal Christianity.

Not my point, Einstein. If copious references and prayers to God are ok on federal buildings, why are images of Jesus impermissable? If He is not divine, He is beneath God, so it seems inconsistent not to go after all references to deity rather than just references to, or imaginary images of, Jesus. It really isn’t that complicated.

    >>”Dred Scott”

    >So, you also would like to bring back slavery?

Oh sure, that’s a reasonable conclusion: I am critical of the Supreme Court decision, and you pretend I am in favor of it. Thanks for parading liberal rhetorical ethics in this forum.

    >>I guess you also believe that Rush doesn’t make them up?

Please inform us as to what Rush has made up, since you introduced him into the conversation. Who’s your favorite commentator, Keith Olberman? Wow, I always wanted to meet his audience.

You better get off the boss’s computer and go back to sweeping the floor.
