To ALPR, correct FL limits to $10,000 PD and no BI requirement. After all we have the wonderful P.I.P, of $10,000 that was established in 1972 and never increased.
The program was set to expire in October 2007, but the hospital lobby got to the media and cried that if P.I.P.was allowed to sunset they would have to close their emer rooms and trama centers. The legeislature then put another band aide on the program and continued the P.I.P., not taking into consideration the fact that the other 49 states are still operating their e rooms. We are the only state that does not have compulsary B.I.

i love it, because many states have low limits. we need to adequately protect our consumers, but if the states do look at that way, then i am suprised that they are not sued on behalf of the victims.

It is about time the minimum limits are increased. States like Ohio need to get in the game and require electronic auto liablilty insurance reporting from insurance carriers and also increase the minimum limits.

Canada has a new system (there’s an acronym but I forget it) where they use a camera with OCR technology that is linked to a license/insurance database…as fast as an officer can drive down a mall parking lot aisle, it scans the plates and sounds an alarm if one comes up on the bad list. They bust thieves using stolen cars, folks with suspended licenses and LOADS of folks without ins. We’ve got the technology and it’s cheaper than leaving these folks on the road…so what’s the hold up?

Think about what the new limits get you if you’re really hurt. (Left with a lot of medical bills if you don’t have insurance!). They need to make 100/300 policy minimums a reality, and per prior comment implement stricter enforcement measures to make sure everyone is in compliance.

Here in Texas there are WAY TOO MANY UNINSURED DRIVERS, and FAR too many of those that are insured have these ridiculously low limits.

I agree with Matt – PA is 15/30/5 – Tell me how far that will get you in even a fender bender these days…

100/300/100 should be the minimum – if you can’t afford the insurance – then don’t drive –

    Even the iii.org website
    (http://www.iii.org/media/hottopics/insurance/compulsory/)

Shows the ridiculously low rates of some states – FL 10/20/10 OH 12.5/25/7.5 (???) who came up with that one!

Doesn’t really matter – if people don’t want to buy the insurance they’ll just drive without – Ask me – I was T-boned by a driver with no insurance and a suspended license

P.S. The Auto License Plate Recognition system would be great if every police department were able to afford the technology:

It has been 20/40/15 for what 30 years?

Drivers caught driving without insurance should be forced to stay in their homes. In Texas that means a lot of possible deportations.

Just wait until Barrack Hussein and Hillary Rotham get ahold of this article. They will bring hope and change to Texas.

The Great State of Taxes is currently controlled BY the insurance industry,(look at a list of the legislators and what their financial connections are). We here have the highest rates for the least coverage in the country for insurance. That is not just auto either, home, health, life whatever. The industry has disallowed so many offerings that are available in other states it is a shame. Then the state REQUIRES you to have insurance. No Fault insurance was offered several years ago and then disallowed by the insurance lobbists because it would require them to pay for their own clients and many of them were elderly and got into accidents because of their reduced abilities. I say we should let people insure themselves and then you will know you are covered and then those without insurance WILL BE the ones who suffer in an accident.
On the “poor uninsured drivers” whine…if you can’t afford to take care of yourself and family by supplying insurance, get a job close enough to home to walk or if it is available take public transportation.

    Dad
Come to Florida, we have P.I.P. We also have the 5th highest rates in the 50 states. This is without any compulsary B.I. and only $10,000 P.D. Don’t cry for Texas, cry for Florida, we have the worst no-fault there can be.
