All states should look at the Georgia system. They’ve had the greatest reduction in UM ratio in the shortest peroid of time.

I applaud the city of Corpus Christi. If more cities took a hard line with the irresponsible the responsible wouldn’t have to pay the price for their ignorance.

I’m guessing that those who get their cars impounded will buy some sort of policy to get their cars out and then cancel the policy. We need a system that forces drivers to buy insurance and keep it in force while they are driving. I think mandatory jail time for the first offense would wake-up some of these irresponsible drivers.

Here’s a suggestion. Instead a meaningless misdemeanor charge, make driving without insurance a felony with mandatory jail time for the driver, and a stiff fine for the owner if other than the driver.

Agree. All cities and states should be impounding the vehicles of uninsured drivers. They should also be allowed to sale said vehicle to offset costs, etc.

This will unfairly hurt illegals who are just over here making money to send back to their own countries.

They walked across the border illegally, they work here illegally. They have a choice to buy insurance and be legal here like everyone else, or just walk back home legally.

    Jose,
Please help me understand why this will UNFAIRLY hurt illegals who are just over here making money to send back to their own countries? Is it fair that 90% of them do not pay taxes? Yet they receive, health care, medicad, and chips for their children that’s paid for by legal working Americans tax dollars? Not to mention it is against the law in Mexico for an American to move to Mexico and send all of their income back to America. Is it not true that almost everything the illegals are fighting for while here in America considered against the law in Mexico? An American could not move to Mexico and protest Mexico’s law, get free health care that Mexican citizens work hard for. I could go on but I am sure you get my point…
