La. Says Bail Bond Agent Filed False Documents

January 11, 2008

The Louisiana Department of Insurance issued a cease and desist order and suspended the license of a Frierson, La., bail bond agent accused of filing false public documents. The department says Brokenberry did not disclose a prior criminal record when applying for an insurance license in 2007.

Donny Sanchez Brokenberry, 32, was served by Department of Insurance Fraud Section Investigators with an order to cease and desist from engaging in the business of insurance and a summary suspension of his license.

The department alleges that Brokenberry submitted a fraudulent license application by not disclosing his prior criminal record. Records indicate that in 1999 Brokenberry pleaded guilty to a felony charge for the unauthorized use of an access card in Caddo Parish, and pleaded guilty to a second charge of misdemeanor theft in 2006.

Brokenberry held a bail bond license from July 2007 until the current suspension.
