these poor families. Mothers fathers and children and pets that suffered needlessly because of the gross errors in calculation of safety by the Bush Cheney acolytes. They should make Dubya pay out of his oil fattened pockets personally

The gross ignorance of the Bush haters is so egregious one has to believe that there really is such a mental disease called the Bush Derangement Syndrome. The FACTS are that these levees and such were designed, built and maintained in the condition they were in decades before Bush came to office. The problem with the levee system boiled down to what is always boils down to in Louisiana — corrupt local Democrat politicians. And if you are so stupid as to live below sea level in a hurricane prone area, I have a hard time being empathetic.

These residents have known for decades that they were living in an area prone to hurricanes and “protected” by levees not capable of withstanding a Catagory 5 storm. Despite this knowledge, many of these ignoramuses chose not to purchase flood insurance. Now they want the taxpayers (yes, it will eventually be us taxpayers that foot the bill for any claims aganist the Army Corps of Engineers) to bail them out of their sel-made misery. I say let Rosie pay!

It never ceases to amaze me at the childishness that is displayed on this issue. Both the comment from Rosie, as well as the parties that filed these suits. Be mature and request reasonable reimbursement and you will gain respect. Act like the world owes you unlimited enrichment for the outcome of a natural disaster and wonder why you get mocked.

Is this the american way, reward people for their poor decisions? You live below sea level, you don’t carry flood insurance, you know a hurricane could destroy your community, but when it happens, it has to be the insurance company or the government’s fault! The people making frivolous suit’s should be prosecuted. I am tired of subsidising the lazy and ignorant of our society.

Use those billions to dig a moat along the Texas/Mexico border and back fill New Orleans to a least sea level. Fill the moat with the rogue alligators from Florida and move Mardi Gras to Kansas City. Solves a bunch of problems!!

well, since the levee’s weren’t that good, and since we’re being asked (yes, that’s my money, too) to finance this undersealevel playground, let’s just blow the dang levee’s and flood this cesspool out so we don’t have to pay for it twice.

What was there first, the levee, or the idiots who needed the levee? Oh, that’s right, the underseadwellers started building there and then cried out for federal help…”help us, we need levee’s, to protect us…and to pay us, for when they fail we’ll sue you for building what shouldn’t have been here in the first place”

Let them use Rosie as a floatation device.

How about all the folks across the Country that have been affected by the Katrina influx of a bunch of lazy welfare couch potatoes join in on this suit – it’s been a burden on our state since we took em in & then they didn’t go home & now we have a higher crime rate & a longer welfare list of recipients that really don’t deserve anything more than a meal at a soup kitchen once a day until they can learn to be self supportive & do something at least for themselves! I say they don’t deserve anything else, they got what they got & that’s all they should get!

Let those that want to live below sea level build their own levee & pay their insurance or not – who cares???

Since we are again on the topic of the lazy, ignorant, why live there crowd, let me make a few things clear…

    (1) Most people on welfare are the people that are the majority race in America. Guess who that is?
    (2) Yes, we know that NOLA has been sinking for a while and while that is not King George’s fault, Katrina did give him an opportunity to leave a great legacy and give the Republicans better leverage politically for helping out my great city.
(3)I hate that there are people that are not leaving a good impression in the cities that they were forced to evacuate to. Tragedy can change you for the better or for the worse and some people choose to do stupid things with their one life they are given and this my friends is not limited to the lazy, the underclass or a particular race of people. Look at Enron, MCI- the bigwigs didn’t care either and lawsuits will bail them out too, affect the quarterly income of the insurance companies and will hit some of us in the wallet due to higher rates and some the little people will get laid off. There is a trickle down effect for everything.
(4)People should get what they deserve, but $3 quadrillion – that make people look like hicks. I feel sorry for the people that didn’t have insurance but hey you live and learn and you do better next time. Whatever you received from FEMA, Red Cross, that’s it. You can sue the government till you’re blue in the face but how long do you really think this process will take – YEARS AND YEARS.

I’m all for shoring up NOLA and nature will take its course, believe me – the BIG ONE has yet to come. If people do not have adequate insurance this time onward then that is definitely on them! Don’t move back if you’re in public housing and I know people are upset about what Nagin is doing but given the models they will have to leave again and I’m sorry but you’re owed NOTHING for the next time!

For those of us who own homes then how dare you tell us where to live.
