Looks like fines will soon become more lucrative than premium taxes. Fines have become an ad hoc tax. I’m not defending wrong doers, but are we following the “war” on drugs. The business of fighting illegal drugs is so entrenched that now we can’t afford to win the war.

So TDI does nothing and we complain. And then TDI enforces its law and we complain. To Bubba and the other Bubbas and Bubbettes reading this, fines are not being levied against those who do no wrong. They are levied against those who injured the public of Texas. I suggest Bubba take his business elsewhere since his view of Texas law is so jaded.

My comment is not a complaint on enforcing the law, it is the growth of revenue from fines. We did it with cigarette taxes. Now so many things are dependent on tobacco taxes that we’d be in trouble if the remaining smokers actually quit.
We should not put ourselves in a place where we are financially dependent on criminals being in the insurance business.

$190K is chump change and for the state of TX to tout it’s accomplishments is comical. Half of the violations were for nothing more than technical issues dealing with continuing education. “teaching a CE course with an out-dated certificate”, “failing to pay a fee”……..what nonsense. TX has bigger fish to fry than making news with this pittance. As for the fraud and criminal issues, by all means go get them and find a way to deter a recurrence. Suspending their license without jail time and restitution is worthless.
