Why should these irresponsible people buy coverage anyway? They are so used to the rest of us, who are smart enough to live elsewhere, pick up their losses. I think they\’re brilliant! Live in Crapsville, get a new home, car, and belongings every few years, without having to pay for it… Then they are allowed to ***** when someone raises their premiums to actually cover their losses. They don\’t call it Lowsy-Anna for nothing.

There is always more to the story. People want a hand out. How many people along the coast have Flood Policies? Not many. When you try to sell it to them, what do they say? That they aren\’t paying for \”that\” because they don\’t need it or the cost isn\’t worth it. Huh.

Depending on where you live, your insurance could always be higher than somewhere else. It is the price you pay for where you live. Florida, California, NY, Hawaii- these are areas where KNOWN catastrophes can hit. The catastrophes WILL be excessive in cost and so premiums reflect that risk. What- we think carriers should pay high claims and take low premiums? How will they make money? Aren\’t we all in this to make money? If not, I\’ll go ahead and take your commissions and bonus checks now. Yeah, that\’s what I thought.

Ugh- NY was an error. I was thinking of high premium states as I typed.

I\’m so tired of irresponsible and ignorant responses like Vyani\’s. Why is it no one wants to fix the situation in Louisiana? How come no one tells people in Florida to move after a hurricaine? How come no one tells those of us in the midwest and south to move after a tornado? How come no one tells individuals living in California and Hawaii to move after an earthquake?

Heck, why don\’t you take your rants global and tell Thailand and Indonesia and India to just close up shop and move someplace else?!?!

Does anyone understand that a better levee needs to be built? Why is such a simple fact like that completely overglossed by smart people who live in weather free cities????? (and by the way, where are these natural disaster free places located?)

So please, continue to sit up on top of your pedastal, but when that day comes when you need compassion and help from your neighbors because your home was ripped apart by a natural disaster….DO NOT complain about it. Because you will get what you so rightfully deserve.

compasion doesn\’t belong in this forum so your tirade is moot. people want to be irresponsible and not have insurance then let them deal with the consequences. Nothing in this world could fix the extremely corrupt state of Louisiana and I mean nothing. Those people now without insurance will still sue someone when the next one hits, mark my words.

I don\’t care how moot my point it. First these people pay for insurance and get screwed over, now they don\’t pay for it and will probably end up in the same boat they are now.

I agree with you Courtney, people who don\’t understand what is going on should not throw rocks! It is not that people don\’t want insurance, they cannot afford it. A friend\’s HO is now 5800 a year for $100,000.00 insurance and she can\’t even live in her house and is living with friends, with no assistance, while she pays for a mortgage and insurance she can\’t afford.

It is time people stop throwing blame!

What if the homeowner was paid for what was really damaged by the storm and not for what was not maintained prior to the storm?

What if the claim was reviewed by both the press and State Insurance Office?

What if the reviews concluded the insurance company paid in excess of what they had to already?

What if the company he is griping about is taking some of the smallest increases in the state and also still writing?

Could there be more to this?

What a laugh – commenting on how will carriers make money if they don\’t raise rates. Check the results they are making money hand over fist unless they are really stupid. Nationwide, Allstate, State Farm, AIG -they can\’t count it fast enough. The carriers have a long histoy of unethical claim practices. Whether some claims valid I for one am glad to see them finally get nailed.

Now, now, don\’t worry about these idiots who want to live in New Orleans, below sea level, with air so thick you can\’t breathe. The more of them who stay down there make more room for sane people in other areas. I\’d sooner live in Chicago than New Orleans; and there\’s no way in Hell that I\’d move to Chicago.
