Are they saying that the hundreds of complaints were unjustified? I thought we all rushed to judgement when the bellyaching was initially reported. So does that mean that other carriers who have been vilified may also be cleared of wrongdoing?

Had ther settled early, they would be spending their time tracking the fraud claims now, like FEMA is having to do.

You know that when someone is handing out $ there are those that know & are willing to lie about what they do not have to get what they think they can. Also, what about the bogus claims that were made in the names of legitimate folks that never received any FEMA $?

I\’m sorry, but there was available help for those folks & although they were put out while they waited, it may be that the delays were justified.

I don\’t work in their insurance office & I am sure glad about that! But, on the other hand, I do know several folks that lost everything & I thank God for their families, friends, neighboring cities & Churches that came through with help for those that asked for it!

Yes. A rush to judgement and a whole lot of bad press only willing to report the bad. If you look at the percentages of claims settled, esp in light of the magnitude, it is not the \”dire\” situation as reported.

Allstate has a long history of screwing its policyholders. An historical note helps understand the Allstate mind-set.

Allstate was and I suppose still is owned by Sears-Roebuck. Sears is a retailer. Retailers expect to make a profit on every sale.
Major insurance carriers, what I call \”institutional\” carriers, like Big Aetna, St. Paul, and so on, are not retail-oriented. They are financial institutions like banks. They are used to the \”cycles\” of the insurance claims business.

The big (\”real\”) insurance companies make their money from investments of the premium dollars. They will accept heavy losses on claims, because they know they will come out ok in the end.

When you know this about Allstate, you begin to understand why they receive the oomplaints they do.
