Believe what you want, but nonsmokers have rights too!

As for as for smokers suing, that is bull, they knew what they were doing. No one put a gun to their heads and made them smoke!

Had I known then what I know now about the addiction, I may or may not have started smoking!

It\’s the responsibility of the individual who makes the choice to do or not do anything in their lives & the sooner the Government realizes this to be fact, the better for everyone. It\’s time to stop putting the blame on someone else because you think you can get into their pockets!

I am addicted, I know the risks, & I am a bit bent that the Government has Lobbyists taking my Tax Dollars to Lobby for a Ban on smoking, when I am totally against the Ban… But do I get a say without spending everything else I make in order to do so?

I say do what you want, know what you are doing, & live & let live, get off your high horse & pull your head out of your bottom & take responsibility for the decision you make on your own behalf.

If you have been forced to smoke until you become addicted & then you have to pay for your cigarettes… then is when you have a suit that would stand up in my court!

I am a smoker for 40 years. I am addicted and have tried everything to stop. You may say I am weak but I say and those in the medical field say the tobacco companies have laced tobacco with so many additives it is harder to stop smoking than it is to stop any of the major illegal drugs. If they are illegal and they kill why is smoking legal? I voted to ban smoking from public places in my state and I would do it again. Smoking not only kills the person smoking but those around them. How many babies are born each year with breathing problems because the mother smoked? Do you know how much smoking costs employers and the medical system each year? I definitely believe in live and let live. In this case it is die and let die.

I hear ya! I have tried & tried to quit myself! I know the vicious cycle, but Banning smoking in places doesn\’t make me quite smoking, just like knowing it\’s bad doesn\’t make me stop either. If you have a miracle cure for the addiction, share it & then ban it, but it\’s BS until you do!

I know about babies born to mothers that smoke, my mother smoked the entire pregnancy, so I am a product of the continuation of the habit I guess, so is that why I should not be allowed to have a smoke at the bar or at a restaurant I have been going to for many years?

As far as killing those around them, you got any numbers on that? I say probably not. You got any proof? Research that & let me know what you come up with!

If it\’s die & let die, then let me die doing what I do if it\’s not illegal & the last I checked it\’s not!

It\’s BS straight up that what I am accustomed to is now being changed around & its BS what the folks are doing by trying to blame it all on the Tobacco Mfg\’s when each of us are responsible for our own actions! Sure they sell a product that we bought with our own money, because we want to, not because we were forced!

By the way, I am addicted to Chocolate too, so you think the Hershey company will pay me to lose weight if I sue them?

Well, I checked out the site, there is not a clear confirmation of the cause being secondhand smoke, it\’s a study & most studies are done by someone that wants to prove a point one way or another.

I understand that there are a lot of folks that die from cancer every year but that doesn\’t mean it\’s all from secondhand smoke just lie all forms of skin cancer are not because of exposure to the sun!

I just don\’t agree & probably won\’t until it\’s made illegal. I have had folks in my family that never smoked & were not subjected to secondhand smoke die, just like there have been folks that smoked until they died at 87 or 92.

When it\’s your time to go will you think because inhaled a puff of smoke that it caused you to die sooner????

Just quit smoking last week with the help of Chantix (Rx). So far, so good. The cravings are not to bad, it\’s the habit of smoking that I find hard to deal with. You know, after eating, while driving, etc.

As far as the second hand smoke research, it was done in the homes of smokers, not in public places, not in resturants and bars, IN THE HOMES OF SMOKERS. It\’s all a bunch of crap! Do you think the American Lung Association is going to say anything else but that second hand smoking is bad for non-smokers? If this all turns out to be just missleading propaganda, can I due the American Lung Asso. for lying to me all these years?

By the way, I didn\’t quit smoking because of any tax, or law suit, anti-smoker\’s law; I quit because it\’s bad for me, period. I don\’t care if it\’s bad for you. If you want to smoke, fine. If I don\’t want to breath your smoke, I\’ll go somewhere esle. It\’s not my place (or the government\’s) to tell a business owner that he or she can not allow a legal activity in their place of business.

I the government was so concerned, they would outlaw tobacco. But they won\’t because there is too much tax money associated with it. The government only cares about tax money and votes, don\’t forget that. The don\’t give a crap about you!

Nice attitude Trippy- you think secondhand smoke kills people, and you\’re all for regulating business owners, but god forbid you sack up and quit.

Nice. Everybody but you pays a price. Classic \”me-centric\” thinking. Why don\’t you concentrate on getting your house right and then worry about legislating what business can and can\’t do.

Lot\’s of people have managed to quit smoking. What makes them different from you? Intestinal fortitude.

I smoked for 15 years. I was chain smoking 2 packs a day when I quit. For me, quitting smoking was harder than quitting methamphetamines, so you\’re right about at least one thing.

But… I quit them both. Try to quit. Keep trying until you succeed. If you can\’t succeed, at least quit hypocritically advocating that other people should pay the price.

Trippy, maybe you don\’t think inhaling chemicals from chemical plants causes cancer!

Get over it, I don\’t want smokers messing up my space!

Ya\’ll are full of it! I do not advocate smoking, I am making a point that I have smoked for 33+ years, tried over & over to quit, it\’s hard, it\’s my only addiction, maybe not my only vice ( I like Crown & 7-up too), but it\’s a tough one to stop.

I tell everyone I know not to start, I do not somke in my home or other people\’s homes, even if they do, nor do I light up around children…

My comments, had you read & understood them, simply states that I do not feel it\’s fair for those of us with a LEGAL Addiction, should not be able to go & do the things they have gone & done in the past (several years), because there is a smoking ban in place.

Let the Businessowners make their own decisions as to the patrons they find make their operations a profit.

If it\’s so bad & the place has been smoked in for years – go build some NON-SMOKING businesses for those that are not addicted to it. Leave the smokers alone!

If I had a way to quit I would, that\’s a guarantee, but this is my addiction & I fall back on it & have ever since I was 12 (yeah, back when you could buy them at that age). I am not blaming anyone, it was my decision irregardless of the circumstances or the Tobacco Company Ads. I accept the responsibility of my decision, what I do not accept is now being told that I can\’t smoke in my STATE!

Cudos to you for stopping & I hope & pray that you stay off them! But there are others that are unable to stop, weather they want to or not is their personal decision, but I bet most would be happy to stop if they could, I would!!!!

The main point is to get across to you that there are many with this addiction & because of a Ban in-lieu of the creation of NON-SMOKING Business, the Government is limiting our freedoms!
