I\’m sorry, but doesn\’t this violate a persons 4th amendment constituional protection against unreasonable searches?
    Where is the probable cause?

Who needs probable cause or habeus corpus these days? Executive power no longer has any limits.

They need to do these checkpoints in California as well. Hey, it\’s the law to have (liability) insurance. I see no conflict in these checkpoints and the 4th amendment. The police have checkpoints to check for drunk drivers, do you think that is in conflict with the 4th amendment as well?

As a matter of fact, I do object to DUI check points but I think they are a necessary evil since we can\’t expect all drivers to be responsible and law-abiding. I think that no crime is committed unless or until it harms someone. DUI check points is just the Volstead Act revisited. Irresponsible drinking habits result in penalizing everyone. the old sledgehammer to kill a gnat. I have never driven drunk but I know that if I have 2 beers after golf, I am over the limit and can be prosecuted….
