A corporation is a legal intity. Legally, in many ways the same as a person. It is a short step between forcing a partnership or sole proprietor to continue doing work they once did. Then a short step to the individual.
How about that, slavery fans??
Funny how the Insurance Companies hid behind the \”well you insurance commission and legislature approved it\” motto… but when EXISTING laws are used to force THEM to perform, they cry like the babies they are.
the problem here is likely the commissioner will not allow Horace Mann, or many other carriers, to charge the premiums they need to properly cover the risk they are faced with in this area. Louisiana is as crooked of a state as they come when it comes to government. What a surprise they try to \’mandate\’ coverage that they fear no other provide wants to come in and sell.
Horace Mann only wants to get away from risk that they will lose money on…hate to break it to a previous writer, but if we force all carriers to lose money, will find we do not have those same carriers. If the free market doesn\’t want the LA homeowners market, you have a problem. The fact that such a law exists appears to be an acknowledgement that free market forces in LA will avoid that market.
What is the difference between making individuals do work they don\’t want to do and making a corporation and its employees do work they don\’t want to do? Corporate slavery is ok according to the lawyers.
If they can do it with insurance today – tomorrow they can do it with any other line of work.
