    As the article says:

Carlos Lopez, director of traffic operations for the [Texas] department [of Transportation], said a survey of both interstates found that 85 percent of motorists were driving up to 79 mph.

\”If people begin to think that the number on the sign is unreasonable, then they won\’t respect it,\’\’ Lopez said. \”Just putting up a lower number on the highway isn\’t going to slow down traffic.\’\’

Tom Delay–anything goes in Congress, PACs and bribes, etc., etc.,
George W. Bush–prextexts for invading Iraq, impact of tax cuts, borrow and spend, domestic surveillance, etc., etc.,
LBJ–boys will be home by Christmas (Vietnam era Texas truth).
Karl Rove and the Prosperity Christianity vote(Christianity doesn\’t have anything to say about helping the poor and disadvantaged…it\’s all about defending marriage and outlawing abortion and whatever else will get us votes so we can raid the Federal Treasury–i.e. tax cuts for a tiny portion of the people)

Beginning to see a pattern here?

Jeezus, accident victim, apparantly you lost your political compass in the accident. If you want to preach about morals and ethics and your political agenda, try the http://www.huffingtonpost.com. It is a full of nutjobs like you.

Yes, an excellent example, the beautiful and articulate Ariana, just the kind of woman that freaks out right wing chicken hawks, nervous about how gender roles have changed in recent times. (Want to freak out a bunch of tough cowboys?–say Hillary!–they all get so busy chest pounding and reaffirming and defending their manhood and manhood in general that they \”sound like a bunch of women\”).

Case in point about the tough and moral Texas elite: Check this out from Time, 1998, December 21: \”Last week former California congressman and almost Senator Michael Huffington announced, via a profile in Esquire magazine, that he is gay. Perhaps making up for lost time, the millionaire ex-husband of conservative political commentator Arianna Huffington appeared within days to become something of a newborn gay activist.\” Huffington grew up in Houston, TEXAS and is an inherited oil money brat.

In fact, Ariana did live several years in Texas among the Texas rich and powerful, having married Michael Huffington.

She was initially a right winger (see the \”conservative political commentator\” mention above) until the scales fell from her eyes and she was disgusted by what she saw and now shares her unique, valuable and insider perspective. She observed the same behavior, same crippled moral code and drew the same conclusions.

Thanks for backing up my point! I can\’t write stuff this good on my own.

My moral compass points me away from crooked politicians and lying politicians and hypocritical politicans and hypocritical preachers, hypocritical churchgoers, etc.

What\’s wrong with that? You must be from Texas\’ at least your compass seems to point that way.

And by the way, boo! Hillary, boo!….

Accident victim, I\’m confused. Are you a victim or a predator? Stop attacking TX, put the crack pipe down and step away. Are you really trying to make the point that TX politicians are worse than those of other states? Wonder why so many have risen to prominence in FEDERAL govt? Must be your fault. So we\’re all victims. Idiot.

    Yep\’n.

Don\’t want no morality talk here–this is in-shore-ance!

    Yep\’n.

Signing off for good. There are no conscious entities in this group (not to mention consciences), just beaten down authoritarian drones serving the massah.

Another triumph of the American educational system. Critical thought? What\’s thet? That\’s comm\’nism. T\’aint patriotic, neither.

What an industry! No wonder the world despises it.

    I CAN\’T DRIVE 55!

I have no problem with leaving it the way is & letting the law officers allow the people to continue driving an average of 79 without a speeding ticket, that way if they actually need to make their end of month quotas, they can Git\’er done!

    Happy Days!

They are running Kinky Freidman for governor. His plan for handling illegal aliens is called, \”The Five Generals\”. He will place 5 Mexican Generals along the Texas – Mexico border. Each General gets $10,000,000.00 in their bank account. Every illegal or dope dealer that gets across subtracts $25,000.00 from their stash. At the end of the year they get whatever is left. This won\’t work in the other 49 states but it will work in Texas.
Texas is a whole other country.
