Have to wonder how many of those on the bus had been abandoned by their families â€â€Ŕ who of course now are missing their loved ones. Sad in a way â€â€Ŕ their evacuation was left up to the nursing home â€â€Ŕ family didn’t come for them. If they had not evacuated them probably would have gotten off much lighter.

Amen to that DH. And none of those collecting $ from the lawsuit was injured physically. Nice inheritance. That will help those with a guilty conscience, if there were any.

My parents were on that bus and I resent greatly the implication that these were people who were abandoned by their families. My father was on that bus because he required the constant care of a nurse. He was catherterized internally and it was too much of a risk for us to move him in case his tube became dislodged . My mother was on the bus because she refused to be separated from him. We love our parents and we trusted the facility to mov e them safely on a vehicle that had passed regular inspections. We were to meet them in Dallas, but unfortunately many did not arrive. Many family members were there to meet them in Dallas. As usual, people feel the need to pass judgment without knowing the facts or any of the people involved. Disgusting!!!!!

As to the comment of bigbear….absolutely untrue. One victim was burned severely. Others had broken limbs which in the elderly is a serious injury. At least two survivors watched as their life-long partners were burned alive. Perhaps that doesn\’t quite count as a \”physical\” injury for some, but I truly hope that you never have to experience such pain, bigbear

    djzee —
I apologize for generalizing. I am sure there were more situations similar to yours where there was good reason that people were not being taken care of by family members. I admit to being jaundiced by my exposure to our tort system as a defense attorney. I can\’t tell you how often I have seen tragic circumstances turned into a circus by greedy relatives; people who had no involvement with the deceased until it was time to collect money. Again, my apologies and my condolences.

I wonder if they would have had the same news coverage if they were in a limousine?
